What does regenerative society mean?

To regenerate means to form again, to restore, to recover from decline. We believe that a regenerative society is one in which self, other, and environment not only sustain but also renew, revitalize, and reinforce one another. To that end, we help leaders in spiritual, environmental, economic and community health to reconnect with what sustains them physically and spiritually, knowing that a regenerative society cannot be sustained around us unless it is also being cultivated within us. We seek to integrate regenerative practices in public and private life, bringing about renewal for individuals, communities, society, and, through each of those channels, for the earth that is our home.

What is regenerative leadership?

Our leaders on the way to a regenerative society are charged with the task of guiding us, bringing us along, influencing us, and conveying the enormous importance of the paradigm shift in which we are engaged. This is no easy task.

To persevere effectively they need colleagues, community and a strong center of internal gravity, a strong inner beacon, including personal practices that help them live and lead from within. Together, these elements contribute to leadership that is continually renewed – to an integrated leadership that is regenerative in nature, because it is not isolated but exists in the context of relationship with self, other and environment.

The Center for Regenerative Society exists to serve, support and sustain leaders who are often on the frontlines of the cultural change process, who frequently feel as though they are meeting resistance while working “upstream,” against the current. Where are you located?

The Center for Regenerative Society offers programs at various venues in the Driftless Area and in its surrounding cities. Our staff currently work from offices in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Our long-range vision includes developing and directing a 24-bed rural retreat and educational center that will one day serve as home base for our programs and outreach efforts.
